How it works

The Rockport test uses a 1-mile walk at steady pace. Formula (weight in lbs, time in minutes): VO2max = 132.853 − 0.0769×weight − 0.3877×age + 6.315×sex − 3.2649×time − 0.1565×HR, where sex = 1 for male and 0 for female.
